The desire to own a home in Gurgaon — the Millennium City – was a distant dream for many until some time back. However, with the launch of the ‘affordable housing scheme’, this distant dream has turned into reality as the general public now has a plethora of options to own a home under various offerings being made. Thus, Gurgaon has become the most preferred destination for buyers looking for affordable houses.
Gurgaon has seen a significant makeover in the last decade with its high rise apartments, but the skyrocketing prices have managed to lure only the rich leaving fewer options for those looking for affordable havens. Keeping the needs of lower and lower-middle class buyers in mind, the Haryana government passed the Affordable Housing Policy in 2013.
Several affordable housing projects have been launched in the vicinity of IMT, Manesar. License for such projects is given on first-come-first-served basis, while flats are given through draw of lots. The applicants must pay five per cent booking amount at the time of filling the form. Later, if the applicant is successful in the draw they will have to pay 20 per cent allotment amount. The remaining amount will be divided to 12.5 per cent instalment that one has to pay every sixth months for three years.
The non successful applicant will be refunded their booking amount in one month’s time. The policy has given strict guidelines to sell the carpet area at As 4000 per sqft and balconies at As 500 per sqft in Gurgaon, owing to which the buyer is at a benefit because they pay for what they own between the four walls of their home.
